Roadcheck 2013 also known as DOT Blitz is kicking off this week June 4th-6th. During this 72 hour period roughly fourteen DOT motor vehicles will be inspected every minute. This program will be inspecting vehicles, equipment, and drivers. These inspections are the typical DOT inspections performed year round; just this period is a blitz to check every vehicle they can. The purpose is to promote safety.
Below is a good article published by The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) or the governing body for this program. Some key safety tips for this week’s blitz:
- Prepare, educate, Prepare
- Buckle Up
- Get enough rest and stay focused on driving – no in cab distractions
- Inspect your vehicle and cargo.
- Make only necessary lane changes
