This week, Propak Corporation’s Senior VP of Logistics, Phillip Langford, had the opportunity to attend the University of Tennessee’s 2015 Spring Job & Internship Fair. The University of Tennessee has one of the nation’s top Supply Chain and Logistics Programs. College recruiting is very important to Propak because it gives employees the chance to connect, ask questions, and really try to understand the needs of the students. “I really enjoy attending college career fairs. I believe that more business leaders should attend top schools within their industry. It allows us to ensure we are providing the right opportunities and creating a place where people want to be.” said Phillip Langford Senior Vice President of Logistics. Propak believes working with Universities to collaborate on challenges facing the current business landscape is vital. Partnerships that allows interactive business case discussion using real life scenarios is a great learning platform. Sharing items that have worked and not worked along with “why” provides students with knowledge learning aside from reading. In addition, seeing students work through these and their feedback provides us great insight as well. Students and programs are rapidly changing with technology in the classroom, and it makes the future in our industry an exciting one to watch.
“I encourage more executives and business leaders to attend career fairs. I realize that this adds stress to an already busy work/life schedule. However, the cost of not connecting with future leaders and ensuring you are providing a culture to attract and develop these candidates is too high in my opinion” said Langford. Propak Corporation looks forward to attending more career fairs in the future, including March 24th, in Cookeville, TN at Tennessee Tech and March 31st, in Nashville at the Ag Expo.Click here for Propak Career Opportunities.
